Simon Doonan: Window Dresser for Barneys New York

by Benedict August on September 15, 2011

Simon Doonan caught our attention in a recent interview in Stir by Sherwin Williams.  Doonan, renowned in his own right but also the other half of “happy chic” designer Jonathon Adler, is the creative director for Barneys.  His brilliant work can most easily be seen in the retail stores window displays.  Simon’s philosophy is simple, “I’ve always thought make a list of what people typically do and do the opposite.  You’re bound to get some attention.”  At Benedict August we are always inspired by Doonan’s work and have adopted this philosophy from the beginning.

Wow this was very inspiring. Thanks for sharing. A great display transcends conscious marketing and captures customers imaginations. Selling them without them even realizing. Not an easy task;)
